Your Pilgrimage Image: Preparing For Your Visit to Lourdes

A few weeks ago, Brice and I stopped at Lourdes before our final destination in Provence.

It was my first time and I HIGHLY recommend it. There is so much to do: so many chapels, churches, rosaries, a tour of St. Bernadette’s house… it is like a Catholic Disneyland!

To be frank, you really can spend much more time there than you think! (Trust me, I was told by my sister numerous times and did not heed the advice!).

I get it NOW!

You honestly can spend DAYS there. You really need a lot of time to savor it all.

So why am I talking about Lourdes? I am not a super “Theology girl” so let’s talk about what I can offer to you as my best advice… Choosing your CLOTHES!

While it may sound superfluous to think about clothing for such a special trip, it’s actually what I do very often with Club members. Getting them ready for the Fatima, Lourdes, Rome… there’s no reason to say “it doesn’t matter” when in all actuality, it DOES matter. Your mood will be lighter if you’re dressed properly for the occasion and READY to handle the moment and be present without worrying about... Clothes! Let alone, the contrast of feeling comfortable walking all day, yet being presentable for daily masses.

So…

Let’s get “pilgrimage ready!”

It’s likely you’ve already been but for those who have not, let’s share some Lourdes pilgrimage wardrobe go-to’s. Consider this your pilgrimage checklist!

  1. Comfortable pants that you can wear with a sneaker or loafer.

  2. Rain jacket! There’s nothing fun about wet clothes when you’re out of your hotel

  3. This collapsible travel mug - you can fill it up and drink Lourdes water all day. It’s not a pain to carry back to your hotel. If you stop at a cafe for a nibble, you don’t have to worry about your empty plastic water bottle rolling around everywhere.

  4. Sweater/top of a good fabric with a little pop of festive color. Especially with a pair of pants. Plus, it will make for more eye-catching photos.

  5. One easy dress or skirt/top combo that you can wear for Mass.

  6. A sneaker and a comfortable loafer - it’s imperative that you can move all day, go up and down hills, etc., without your feet hurting.

  7. This Crossbody purse (which was last week’s blog post) makes everything easier.

  8. Veil/shawl - if you veil, don’t forget it! And of course if you have a shawl that can always double OR just for something to wrap around for extra coverage.

I travelled/flew in this exact shoe (in olive) and wore them for daily activities and mass.

I have this one and it’s great! Perfect for packing, takes up minimal space and has a great fit.

Excellent brand for comfort
